For the base:

225g malted milk biscuits, crushed (approx. 2¼ cups)

200g milk chocolate, chopped (approx. 1 cup + 2 tbsp)

125g Maltesers (approx. 1⅔ cups)

160g butter (approx. ½ cup + 3 tbsp)

3 tbsp golden syrup

1 tbsp cocoa powder

For the topping:

300g chocolate (or milk chocolate) (approx. 1¾ cups)

100g Maltesers, whole or roughly chopped (approx. 1⅓ cups)


🧑‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Make the Base:
    Combine crushed biscuits and cocoa powder in a large bowl. In a saucepan, gently melt the butter, milk chocolate, and golden syrup over low heat, stirring until smooth. Pour over the biscuit mixture and mix well. Fold in the Maltesers.
  2. Press and Chill:
    Line a 9×9-inch tray with parchment paper. Press the mixture evenly into the tray. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up.
  3. Add the Topping:
    Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (or in the microwave in short bursts). Pour over the chilled base and spread evenly.
  4. Decorate:
    Scatter Maltesers on top and gently press them into the melted chocolate.
  5. Chill and Slice:
    Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until set. Slice into squares or bars and enjoy!
