I Slipped Laxatives Into My Husband’s Coffee Before He Went To Meet His Mistress… But What Happened Next Turned Out Worse Than I Ever Expected
They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, but they don’t mention the sheer, calculated patience that comes with it. When I found the hotel confirmation on Mark’s phone for a “business brunch,” I didn’t scream. I didn’t pack his bags. Instead, I went to the kitchen and brewed the most beautiful, aromatic pot of coffee he’d ever smelled.
As he straightened his silk tie, complaining about a “long day of meetings” ahead, I stirred in a little something extra. A “special blend” that I knew would kick in right around the time he was ordering appetizers with his twenty-something intern.
I watched from the window as he drove away, a smug smile on my face. I expected a frantic phone call. I expected him to come home early, disheveled and humiliated. But what happened next turned out worse than I ever expected.
Two hours later, my doorbell rang. It wasn’t Mark. It was the police.
“Ma’am, there’s been a multi-car pileup on the interstate,” the officer said, his face grim. “Your husband… he lost control of the vehicle. He’s okay, but he’s claiming he had some kind of ‘medical emergency’ that hit him out of nowhere.”
The guilt hit me like a freight train. My “harmless” revenge hadn’t just ruined a date; it had caused a four-car collision. As I sat in the waiting room of the ER, clutching my purse, I realized that in trying to poison his morning, I’d nearly ended his life—and the lives of others.
Revenge is a dish best served cold, but some things are better left to Karma. Now, when I need to clear my head or deal with a bitter heart, I skip the schemes and head straight for the kitchen. This “Better Than Revenge” Dark Chocolate Mocha Cake is the only thing I’ll be stirring up from now on.
“Better Than Revenge” Dark Chocolate Mocha Cake
This cake is rich, slightly bitter from the espresso, and incredibly moist—everything a good revenge story should be (without the legal fees).

Stir in the hot coffee by hand. The batter will be very thin and watery—this is exactly what you want! The hot liquid “blooms” the cocoa for a deeper flavor.

30-35 minutes
Pour evenly into prepared pans. Bake until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely before frosting with a coffee-infused buttercream.
