Garbage Bread

Garbage bread is a fun and delicious way to use up leftover ingredients and turn them into a hearty, stuffed bread that’s perfect for a snack, meal, or party dish. Here's a popular version that uses a mix of meats, cheese, and seasonings. Feel free to customize it with whatever you have on hand!

Basic Garbage Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

1. 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

2. 1/2 lb ground beef or any leftover meat (sausage, chicken, etc.)

3. 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)

4. 1/2 cup diced onions (optional)

5. 1/2 cup diced bell peppers (optional)

6. 1/2 cup cooked bacon bits (optional but adds great flavor)

7. Salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning to taste

8. 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Cook the Filling: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef (or other meats) until browned. If using veggies, add them in and cook until softened. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, then drain any excess fat.

3. Prepare the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface.

4. Add the Fillings: Spread the cooked meat and veggies evenly over the dough, leaving about an inch border around the edges. Sprinkle the cheese and bacon bits over the top.

5. Roll It Up: Carefully roll the dough up like a jelly roll, tucking in the edges as you go.

6. Seal and Brush: Pinch the seam and edges to seal. Place the roll seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with a beaten egg to give it a golden finish.

7. Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and the dough is cooked through.

8. Serve: Slice and serve warm with marinara or ranch for dipping!

Tips:

Customize with ingredients like pepperoni, spinach, mushrooms, or olives.

Substitute the ground beef with leftover taco meat, rotisserie chicken, or ham.
