Charred Cabbage with Coconut, Garlic, and Chili Crisp

Here's a simple and flavorful recipe for Charred Cabbage with Coconut, Garlic, and Chili Crisp. This dish combines the smoky, charred flavor of cabbage with the richness of coconut, the warmth of garlic, and the spicy, crunchy bite of chili crisp. It's easy to make and packed with bold flavors.

Ingredients:

1 small head of cabbage (green or Savoy works well), quartered and core removed

2 tablespoons olive oil or neutral oil

Salt and black pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons coconut oil (or you can use shredded coconut for added texture)

4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced

1 tablespoon chili crisp (adjust to taste)

Fresh lime juice, to taste (optional)

Fresh herbs, like cilantro or scallions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prep the cabbage: Preheat your grill or heat a heavy skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Drizzle the cabbage quarters with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper.

2. Char the cabbage: Place the cabbage quarters on the grill or in the skillet, cut-side down, and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side until charred and tender. Remove from heat and set aside.

3. Make the garlic-coconut mixture: In a separate skillet, melt the coconut oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and cook until it’s golden and fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to burn it.

4. Assemble the dish: Place the charred cabbage on a serving platter. Spoon the garlic-coconut mixture over the cabbage, then drizzle with chili crisp to taste.

5. Finish and serve: Squeeze a little fresh lime juice over the top if desired, and garnish with fresh herbs.

Tips:

Spiciness: Adjust the chili crisp amount to your spice tolerance.

Serving suggestion: This pairs well with rice or as a side to grilled protein.

Enjoy your charred cabbage with a delightful mix of coconut, garlic, and spice!
