Beef Taco Grilled Cheese Casserole

Here’s a tasty Beef Taco Grilled Cheese Casserole recipe—a delicious fusion of tacos and grilled cheese in a comforting casserole!

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 packet taco seasoning mix (or homemade taco seasoning)

1 cup salsa

1/2 cup water

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack)

8 slices of bread (use thick-cut for best results)

4 tbsp butter (softened)

Optional toppings: sour cream, chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce, green onions, or avocado

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

2. Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.

3. Add Taco Seasoning: Stir in the taco seasoning, salsa, and water. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens.

4. Layer Bread and Cheese: Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place 4 slices (buttered side down) on the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle 1 cup of cheese evenly over the bread.

5. Add Beef Mixture: Spread the beef mixture over the cheese layer in the baking dish.

6. Top with More Cheese and Bread: Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the beef mixture. Place the remaining 4 slices of bread on top, buttered side up.

7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the top layer of bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

8. Serve: Let it cool for a few minutes, then cut into squares. Add any optional toppings you like.

Tips

Serve it with salsa or guacamole on the side for dipping.

This casserole can be made with ground turkey or chicken if you prefer.
